As discussed previously, the 69-70 Scat Pack club jacket seems to be the one that is mostly reproduce, and for that reason I will only be referring to that jacket on this page.
After examining many jackets that do not meet the criteria from the original jacket brochure and ordering forms discussed earlier on the site, as well as Not trying to discredit anyone claiming they have an original and or Vintage Scat Pack jacket, I have separated my findings into two categories when it comes to the 69-70 reproduction Scat Pack jacket.
First category that I would call Present-day reproduction….that is jackets that are manufactured somewhere between mid 1990’s and mid 2000’s (or later) and then the second category I would call Vintage Reproduction,..which would be Jackets manufactured somewhere between early 70’s and early 80’s.
Here are 3 Present day reproduction jackets. I paid roughly around $100 to $125 for each of these. Even though these ARE NOT original 69-70 jackets, there seems to be however a market for these. With the exception of the sizes they are identical to each other in every way. These are Jacket that I believe were remanufactured some time between mid 1990’s and 2000’s or later. Their Origins is unknown to me because there is no manufacturers name on the Tags.
They are made of decent quality and at first glance look identical to the original ones, but at a closer look the lack of detail is what gives them away. The Material feels a bit thicker than original and has a rubbery feel on the inside…..like a raincoat.

Absent are the “Dodge” patches that would have been present on the back side of original jackets.

Elastic fabric sleeves instead of straight cuffs with Velcro like original.

Two slip-in side pockets instead of single front pocket with flap.

Left side upper sleeve pocket appears to be the same.

Solid Metal chrome zipper instead of a nylon”Talon”?? Dead give away.

All three tag are the same but containing NO manufacturer’s name. Instead it just simply tells you what the Shell is made of and where it was made. In this case all 3 were made in Canada. I have run acrossed other present day repo’s with the tag saying USA as well.
Here is a closer look.

About the only thing that I felt came close to the original Scat Pack jacket was the Scat Pack patch itself. The appearance of the patch and the colors look identical to the original …..very impressive. But the quality is almost too good, like it was computer driven during the embroidering process. It has a very flat profile a lot like a print but was definitely sewn. Also only measured 3-1/2″ in diameter instead of 4-1/2″ like the original. Extremely new looking and lacks patina.

Here is one I found online that that was made in the USA instead of Canada. Appeared to be the same as other present day repo’s in every way.

Only Difference I found was the USA tag.

Here is a picture of an Original Dodge Scat Pack Jacket (on the left) compared next to the present-day reproduction. Look how much larger the Patch is on the original jacket.

Here’s the back side. (Original still on the left)

Now lets look at what I call the Vintage Reproduction Jacket.
These are jackets that I feel started life as a common orange racing jacket. Another words Dodge and or The Scat Pack club did not have the market cornered on orange racing jackets. There were several manufacturers who also made a wide range of orange jackets with a black racing stripe on one side. But as discussed elsewhere on this site, HHS were the only manufacturers of the Original Dodge Scat Pack club jackets and is the basis of our discussion.
So its has been my belief that these jackets were produced anywhere between 1970’s and early 1980’s. They could have been purchased at any clothing store or perhaps sold in bulk for special events. Scat Pack patches which I believe are reproductions patches of the day were sewn on later by the individual or, sewn on by machine that mass-produced them as copies….also sold at events.
I only own two of these and from what I’ve seen ( here and others online) no two are Identical with the exception of the Scat Pack patch. I will explain more further down.

Lets look at these two Vintage repo jackets one at a time. Starting with this one shown below.
Well the first thing that stands out at me here is that the Black racing stripe is on the wrong side! Another words the jacket is totally reversed from others that we looked at.
Material has a very thin feel to it that I have only notice on these Vintage repo’s.

A Metal “Talon” zipper?…The maker is period correct but not the material of the zipper.
Can you see why I’m calling this Vintage Reproduction?

Vintage Tag…reads “Ebert Enterprises Racing Apparel” Like I said earlier, there was no shortages of Orange Racing Jackets back in the day. Ever the less,..Not an HHS Tag.

Single side pocket with flap….that’s correct, just not on the right side.

Collar has button with flap instead of “Velcro”. Sleeve has nylon elastic instead of “Velco” flap.

When i first saw this jacket i was intrigued and surprised to see it wearing the rectangle “Dodge”patch on what clearly was a Vintage reproduction jacket. At a closer examination I noticed that the pacth was indeed a orginal pacth, just not belonging on this jacket.
Notice how sloppy the stitching is? and how the patch does not lay flat? Is was definitely removed from an original Dodge Scat Pack jacket and transferred to this one at some point.
Wow,!!!!……talk about not looking right. When compared against the Original and the Present Day Scat Pack patch, these vintage day patches just look cheap.
This must have been the best reproduction available for the time, cause this is the one i see most of when finding Vintage reproduction jackets and also measuring 3-1/2″ in diameter just like the Present day repo’s. Could these have also been iron-on’s?

Lets look at the second Vintage Day reproduction jacket in got. This is kind of cool have the vintage racing patches and personal initials…..BUT….Still Not an original Dodge Scat Pack club jacket.
At least the striping and pocket are on the correct side for this one.

Again……No “Dodge” patch present.

Cool vintage patches that someone added. Notice the black button on the collar?…Wrong.

Same nylon elastic cuffs as other Vintage repo.

Closer look at the black button collar.

Strange…No tag, Nor does it look like one was ever there.

This one has the correct make and style “Talon” zipper going for it.

And again,…here is that Poorly reproduced Scat Pack patch that I’ve seen mostly on these Vintage reproduction jackets. And still only 3-1/2″ in diameter.

Here is a look at all 3 Scat Pack patches for comparison. Starting from left to right,
The 69-70 Original Patch. The Present day repo patch. The Vintage day repo patch.
Here another Vintage Reproduction jacket that I stumbled across in ….oddly enough a “Dodge Marketing book”. Jacket is from another odd ball vintage day maker “Gibraltar?”.
I’m suspecting that the author and or editor didn’t really do his research before printing this. If so he would have clearly recongnized that this is NOT an Original Scat Pack Jacket. Black and white stripes ?….Pocket on wrong side….and look…there’s that poorly reproduced Scat Pack patch again which doesn’t even look like it’s sewn on straight. And obviously NOT a 1971 Version.
