As most know 1971 marked the last year for Dodge’s performance vehicles, and the end of their Marketing Program “The Scat Pack”. Membership for the Scat Pack club was only $5.95 , but with it received all kinds of goodies, such as membership new letters, a parts catalog, club patches, membership card, a performance new letter and a new designed Scat Pack Jacket….All for just $5.95!!…..Up until this point jackets were purchased separately , Now were included with your Membership. But the new 1971 jacket very different from previous years, and along with the new jacket came a new Scat Pack designed Logo.

For $5.95 you could have got your membership plus all these items listed above. Or pay just $3.00 for your membership minus all the goodies. see below.

Here is the New design Logo for the 71 Scat Pack year.

Now lets take a look at the New 1971 Dodge Scat Pack jacket.
Heavy Psychedelic Graphics and deign was new for this year as well as the material they were made from. The New Material Called “Tyvek” by DuPont was very lightweight and didn’t breathe very well and easily ripped when it got wet. A Hug difference from the quality of previous years , felt more like wearing a trash bag then a jacket. And in my opinion has that disposable look. But,…they seem to be extremely rare and hard to find in any condition today. Not so sure if that is because of the low production ,or due to the fact that not many survived because of poor quality. Nevertheless it was the last year for the Scat Pack Jacket.

With these Jackets being the hardest to find in any condition, the market value for them has really gone up through the years.

Here is one that appears to be in its original NOS packaging.

Manufacturer by “J. Sterling” instead of “Hughes Hatcher Suffrin” Or ‘The Great Lakes Jacket” like previous years, and will be the First and last time is company will be associated with Dodge apparel.

In my research i could not find anything on “J.Sterling”. So other than what is give here very little is known about these Last year Scat Pack jackets.
If anyone has more , better, or accurate information on these, please feel free to contact me so i can enter onto this site.
