The 1969 & 1970 Jacket

Probably the most popular of all the Scat Pack Jackets and the one everybody can relate to, is the 1969 to 70 Jacket. I’m guessing it is because it was the height of dodge performance.  And at this point everyone who was bitten by the bug was acutely aware of just how much excitement these cars brought. Unfortunately for the Scat Pack jacket these were the most copied.

On this page I will start by showing you a couple of nice original 69 to 70 Scat Pack Jackets. Then we will go over all the qualities and attributes that make these jackets stand out from the reproductions, and we will be using the dealership brochure/ordering form we learned about from the previous pages to help us.

although not as rare as the 68 jacket, but more popular was the 69 to 70 jackets. In the New Color “International Racing Orange”, These were made for two year, 69 to 70.                                                 Owner: Dean Parker

Unlike the silky lightweight feel of the 68 Jacket, 69-70’s were made out of a much heavy Nylon Material and had more of a rugged feel. The Brochure describes it being able to take crushing and folding without losing it’s fresh look, and my first impression was just that.

Lets take another look at the dealership brochure/ordering form again for the 1969-70 jacket. This time we will go step by step through the numbers (1-8) and identify each attribute on the form and comparison match with an Original Jacket.

8.  Drawstring

Unfortunately the drawstring on this jacket is missing as a lot of them were,  But you can see where in went.  For the ones that I have seen still present, they were white in color.

Well There you have it 8 for 8. But let’s not forget one more item which is equally as important…………..do you remember where the order form told you to send your money too?

That’s right………”Hughes-Hatcher-Suffrin”. To spite contrary belief my research has led me to believe that there was only ONE manufacturer for the 1969-70 style Dodge Scat Pack jacket.  And ALL others for this style were and are copies.

Here are some more pictures I would like to share of another 69-70 style Original Scat Pack jacket. This is a Ladies Medium jacket and I would think these should be somewhat rare considering would have been ordered in Men size. In addition to it being a ladies size this one is particularly unique seeing how some one had it autographed by the famous Drag car racer “Roger Lindamood” who was known through the 60’s and 70’s racing his Mopar’s with the “Color Me Gone” on the side.

Only Difference i have found between the men’s style jacket and the ladies style jacket is that the Scat Pack patch on the ladies carries a 4″ dia patch instead of a 4-1/2″dia patch like the men’s jackets do. I’m guessing this might have something to do with proportion with the smaller jacket size.
